Hajjah: The Chairman of the National Human Rights Authority, Ali Taisir, engaged in discussions with Abdullah Al-Mahmari, the Director of the Authority's branch in Hajjah Governorate, focusing on the situation of displaced persons and the human rights and humanitarian performance within the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting involved a review of the periodic report detailing the activities and operations of the Authority's branch in Hajjah. Key challenges were identified, including the plight of displaced persons in the Abs District camps, who face severe humanitarian and living conditions due to dwindling assistance, lack of basic services, and halted relief programs.
The discussion also highlighted the achievements of the Authority's branch in recent times, such as receiving complaints, processing human rights reports, conducting field visits, and addressing cases related to displaced persons and vulnerable groups. Strategies to improve fieldwork and coordination with relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to enhance the humanitarian response were also discussed.
Ali Taisir underscored the United Nations' moral and legal responsibilities to those forcibly displaced by the prolonged US-Saudi aggression, which has led to the destruction of citizens' homes over nine years. He affirmed the Authority's commitment to supporting its branches across governorates, overcoming challenges, and enabling effective execution of their humanitarian and human rights responsibilities. Taisir also called for increased humanitarian efforts to protect displaced families from famine and deteriorating living conditions.
