Sana'a: The Eastern Sector Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Society in Sana'a Governorate has initiated the distribution of 10,000 almond and fruit tree saplings from the society's Al-Yafi'iyah nursery.

According to Yemen News Agency, the society's chairman, Abdul-Razzaq Al-Mukhrafi, stated that the distributed almond, grape, apple, and peach saplings are of high quality. These saplings will be provided to cooperatives across various sub-districts in the sector. The society aims to plant 50,000 saplings of different varieties this year to enhance self-sufficiency in a range of agricultural crops.

The society's Secretary-General, Mohammed Al-Humaidi, highlighted efforts to establish garlic cultivation and sapling production in Khawlan districts. This initiative marks the first phase of expanding agricultural lands to benefit local farmers.

Sustainable Agriculture Officer Qasim Al-Azab and accountant Hussein Al-Soufi mentioned that the initiative is part of the Eastern Sector Cooperative's annual plan. This phase involves sowing and distributing high-quality grape, peach, almond, and plum saplings. They also reported progress in distributing nearly eight tons of improved wheat, sorghum, and legumes, facilitated through interest-free loans to cooperatives in the Eastern Sector sub-districts during the spring and winter seasons.
