Sana'a: A meeting between the leadership of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Investment and the Chairman, along with members of the Administrative Reform, Insurance and Human Development Committee of the Shura Council, discussed various aspects related to the development of a work matrix aimed at reducing unemployment.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting emphasized the importance of crystallizing ideas to prepare an executive action matrix for the ministry and all relevant authorities. This matrix is intended to be realistic and contribute significantly to alleviating unemployment. Discussions included the Ministry's collaboration with competent authorities to develop a mechanism facilitating access for small and micro enterprises to exemptions from all government fees as per the new investment law. This initiative hopes to encourage and develop the small and micro enterprises sector, thereby creating new job opportunities.
Chairman of the Administrative Reform, Insurance and Human Development Committee in the Shura Council, Saleh Beynoun, expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Economy and Industry's leadership in organizing this meeting. It was based on a study prepared by the committee on mechanisms to alleviate poverty and absorb unemployment. He commended the Ministry's leadership for issuing the new investment law and highlighted the advantages, incentives, and privileges it offers to preserve national capital as a key driver of the country's development.
The meeting also explored several concepts to develop an executive action matrix aimed at absorbing unemployment. These include encouraging labor-intensive projects, exploiting local capabilities and resources, and enhancing general, technical, vocational, and university education. Additionally, there is a focus on aligning educational outcomes with labor market demands.
To further these initiatives, a joint committee will be formed comprising members from the Ministry and the Shura Council Committee. This committee will work to crystallize ideas and develop an executive action matrix for all government agencies. The committee's membership will be expanded to include all relevant agencies and the private sector.
