Sana'a: The editorial boards of "26 September" and "Al-Yemen" newspapers today visited the Garden of the Martyrs of Yemeni Media in the Al-Rawdah area of Sana'a. The visit coincided with the first anniversary of the attack on the newspapers' headquarters by the Zionist enemy on September 10.
According to Yemen News Agency, the journalists paid tribute to their fallen colleagues by reciting Al-Fatiha, underscoring the ongoing war crimes committed by Zionist forces against media outlets and journalists in Yemen, Palestine, and Lebanon. These actions are seen as part of a comprehensive war against the Arab and Islamic nations on multiple fronts, including military, economic, political, cultural, and media.
The journalists highlighted that the attack on "26 September" and "Al-Yemen," along with other media institutions in the Gaza Strip, has exposed the moral failings of America and Western countries, challenging their purported commitment to journalist protection. The massacre, which resulted in the deaths of 31 journalists and media workers, along with a child, is described as the bloodiest attack on journalism in the Middle East in 16 years.
The attack, executed using GBU-31 bombs in densely populated areas, was condemned as a grave violation of international humanitarian law. The journalists stressed that such acts constitute war crimes due to the indiscriminate impact on civilians, breaching international agreements and the 1980 Geneva Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons.
The visiting journalists condemned the broader pattern of targeting Yemeni journalists by the Zionist entity, which has also resulted in extensive casualties and arrests of media personnel in the Gaza Strip. They renewed their commitment to continue their media duties in opposition to the occupation and its propaganda, vowing loyalty to the martyrs' sacrifices.
Demands were made for the United Nations and relevant organizations to establish an independent international committee to investigate the war crimes against journalists from "26 September" and "Al-Yemen," as well as in Palestinian media institutions, to ensure accountability in international courts.
