Sanaa: The Ministry of Education and Scientific Research has announced that the new academic year 1448 AH, corresponding to 2026/2027 AD, will commence for all educational levels on the 5th of Muharram, which translates to 20 June 2026. The process for registration, enrollment, and student transfers in both public and private schools is set to start today, Saturday.

According to Yemen News Agency, Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi emphasized the need for regular attendance by teaching staff across all educational levels beginning Saturday, 27 Dhu al-Hijjah (13 June 2026). The schooling will adhere to a five-day week schedule, in line with the school calendar issued under Ministerial Resolution No. (100) of 1447 AH / 2026 AD.

The Minister further outlined that the first-semester examinations for all levels are scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 18 Rabi' al-Thani 1448 AH (29 September 2026). Additionally, the mid-year break is planned to start on Saturday, 29 Rabi' al-Thani (10 October 2026).

As per the school calendar, classes for the second semester will resume on 6 Jumada al-Awwal (17 October 2026). Final transfer examinations for all levels are set to begin on Tuesday, 18 Sha'ban 1448 AH (26 January 2027).

For students in the secondary level, general certificate examinations for both scientific and literary streams are slated to begin on Saturday, 12 Shawwal (20 March 2027). Meanwhile, the basic education certificate examinations will follow, starting on 13 Shawwal.
