Al-Hazm:Al-Jawf The Ministry of Electricity, Energy, and Water has issued a strong condemnation following an airstrike by Saudi aggression on key water infrastructure in Al-Hazm city, Al-Jawf Governorate. The attack targeted the Public Water and Sanitation Corporation building, the city's water project, and its desalination plant.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Ministry's statement detailed that the Saudi airstrike directly hit Al-Hazm's water project, resulting in the destruction of its solar power system and desalination plant. This assault has halted public services, rendering the water project and plant inoperative.
The Ministry emphasized that the deliberate targeting of civilian facilities and public service infrastructure, especially those related to water, is considered a war crime and a blatant violation of international norms, conventions, and laws, notably international humanitarian law.
Furthermore, the Ministry placed full responsibility on the Saudi aggression for the repercussions of its ongoing targeting of essential public service facilities and infrastructure, including those vital for electricity and water, which are crucial for the daily lives of citizens.
The Ministry has appealed to the United Nations, the international community, and pertinent humanitarian and human rights organizations to meet their moral and legal duties by condemning these actions. It urged these entities to apply pressure to stop the recurring attacks on civilian and vital infrastructure and to ensure the safeguarding of public service facilities crucial to the basic necessities of the Yemeni population.
