Taiz: The Endowments Authority and the Scholars and Students Unit in the Taiz governorate organized a significant speech event on Tuesday titled "The Message and the Messenger: The Gift of Mercy," marking the Prophet Muhammad's birthday for the year 1448 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, the event was held at the historic Mu'adh ibn Jabal Mosque in the Al-Jand area, with province first undersecretary Muhammad Al-Khalidi in attendance. Abdulqader Al-Jilani, a member of the Yemeni Scholars Association, elaborated on the profound religious and historical ties between the people of Yemen and the Prophet Muhammad since the inception of Islam.
Al-Khalidi discussed the enduring historical and religious traditions that reflect the deep connection between Yemenis and the Prophet. This connection began with notable figures like the Companion Mu'adh ibn Jabal and Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib being dispatched to Yemen. It continued through documented prophecies and was exemplified by the Aws and Khazraj tribes' early support for Islam and the Prophet's mission.
Al-Jilani described the commemoration of the Prophet's birthday as a pivotal spiritual and educational event that embodies the Prophet's ethics and values. It serves to reinforce resilience, steadfastness, and social solidarity while heightening awareness against challenges targeting the community. He referenced Quranic verses and Prophetic traditions that emphasize rejoicing in Allah's grace and mercy, and the importance of reverence for the Prophet and his family.
Highlighting the Prophet's message, Al-Jilani stressed the significance of mercy and brotherhood and the need for individuals to embrace their religious and national responsibilities to protect their faith-based identity. The event is part of a broader awareness and cultural initiative aimed at reinforcing faith-based identities and promoting the role of scholars and students in fostering societal enlightenment and the values of tolerance and mercy.
Cultural activist Muhammad Al-Hashimi spoke on the historical contributions of Yemen's kings and rulers to the Prophet Muhammad's mission. He presented historical evidence of Yemenis' anticipation of the final message before the Prophet's mission.
Al-Jilani urged participants to leverage this religious occasion to strengthen their faith-based identity, encourage charitable acts, and uphold the responsibilities of faith and patriotism in the face of adversities.
