Entisaf Organization Condemns Attacks on Civilians and Infrastructure in Yemen

Taiz:Yemen The Entisaf Organization for Women's and Children's Rights has strongly condemned the escalation of attacks by the Saudi forces on several Yemeni governorates. These attacks have targeted civilians, their properties, health facilities, drinking water sources, and communication networks.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Entisaf Organization stated that these actions represent a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the principles of protecting civilians and civilian objects during armed conflicts.

The organization highlighted a specific incident where a fuel station in the Al-Dhabab area of Sabr Al-Mawadim District in Taiz Governorate was shelled, resulting in the death of two citizens and injuring seven others. In addition to the loss of life, the attack caused severe material damage to property, posing a significant threat to the security and livelihoods of the local population.

Further, the Entisaf Organization denounced the targeting of a drinking water tank supplying the villages of Al-Ardah and Azzan in the Qadas sub-district area of Al-Mawasit District. The organization emphasized that such actions directly threaten citizens' right to access water, putting their lives and health at grave risk.

The organization also condemned the attack on the old Al-Mokha Hospital in Taiz Governorate, which resulted in severe damage to its buildings and health facilities. The statement affirmed that medical facilities are entitled to special protection under international humanitarian law, and attacking them jeopardizes the lives of patients and deprives vulnerable groups, such as women, children, and the elderly, of their basic right to health care.

Additionally, the destruction of the communications network in Maran District of Saada was highlighted. The two airstrikes that damaged the network have disrupted communication channels and basic services, hindering the delivery of distress calls and humanitarian information, thereby worsening civilian suffering.

The organization underscored that the targeting of health facilities, water sources, communication networks, and other civilian objects must not be dismissed as collateral damage. It called for accountability for the perpetrators in accordance with international law to ensure justice for the victims.

The Entisaf Organization urged the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to break their silence, assume their responsibilities, and take urgent action to stop the violations, ensure the protection of civilians and infrastructure, and lift the siege that has exacerbated the suffering of the Yemeni population over the past 12 years.
