Entisaf Report Highlights Psychological Impact of Yemen Conflict

Sanaa:The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights has released a report titled "Hidden Wounds Beneath the Ashes," documenting the psychological and social effects of the Saudi-American aggression and blockade on Yemen, particularly affecting women, children, and vulnerable groups.

According to Yemen News Agency, the report outlines how the conflict's consequences extend beyond physical casualties and infrastructure damage, impacting collective memory, social fabric, and mental health. This situation has led to trauma, psychological disorders, weakened community ties, and increased economic hardships.

The report was based on Entisaf's monitoring, official sources, and international organizations' data. It highlights how constant threats, loss of loved ones, and instability have increased anxiety, depression, and PTSD cases. Economic pressures have weakened family and social support networks, imposing new challenges.

Key findings include over 11,000 children killed or maimed since March 2015 due to coalition attacks, with over 8.8 million children needing protection from exploitation and violence. The report also notes that millions of children are deprived of education, leading to school dropouts, child labor, and early marriage.

It indicates that around seven million people suffer from psychological disorders, with only a small fraction accessing mental health services. The report calls for ending the aggression and blockade, launching mental health programs, and supporting civil society initiatives to aid recovery.

Entisaf emphasizes the need for international legal frameworks to protect civilians from psychological harm and urges humanitarian organizations to address these issues to aid Yemen's recovery.
