European Union Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia, Urges Immediate Cessation

Brussels: The European Union has issued a strong condemnation of the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, which targeted civilian and economic infrastructure in the southern part of the country. These attacks resulted in injuries to 73 civilians, including women and children. Expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia, the European Union conveyed wishes for a full and speedy recovery to those injured, emphasizing that the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure is unacceptable.

According to European Union, the attacks signify a dangerous escalation, violating international law and undermining regional security and stability. The actions by the Houthis risk further jeopardizing efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Yemen. The European Union has called on the Houthis to immediately cease all attacks inside and outside Yemen, including those against commercial shipping in the Red Sea, and to comply with UNSC Resolutions 2722 (2024) and 2826 (2026).

The European Union highlighted the importance of peace and stability in Yemen for the security of the Gulf region and the Red Sea. It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the people and government of Yemen and to collaborating with the United Nations, regional partners, and the international community in efforts towards de-escalation and the pursuit of a comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable peace.
