Sana'a: The Yemeni University in Sana'a organized an oratorical event on Sunday to mark the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him and his family) birth. During the event, Deputy Minister for the Higher Education Sector, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, highlighted the importance of commemorating this occasion to draw lessons from the Prophet's noble life and embody them in practice, particularly his spirit of struggle, sense of responsibility, and fulfillment of the trust placed on the nation to attain the good of both this life and the hereafter.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Luqman emphasized that the anniversary serves as a reminder of the Prophet's life and example, making him the role model to follow. He noted that those who discourage the commemoration of the Prophet's birth aim to divert the nation from its path and distance it from its Prophet and role model. Dr. Luqman added that for the Yemeni people, commemorating the Prophet's birth carries deep significance in their hearts and souls due to their strong attachment to the Seal of the Prophets and Messenger of Allah, their adherence to his commands, and their following of his guidance since the dawn of Islam. This, he said, made them among the pioneers of conquests and the spread of Islam across the East and West throughout history.
Chairman of the Yemeni University Board of Trustees, Dr. Yahya Al-Mutawakkil, emphasized that commemorating the Prophet's birth is among the most important duties and greatest deeds, as it celebrates the birth of the best of creation, the source of light, mercy, and divine guidance. He praised the commitment of the state and people to marking this occasion, which reflects Muslims' deep connection with their Prophet as a leader and source of inspiration, as well as a means to draw closer to him, honor his status, and express gratitude to Allah.
Dr. Al-Mutawakkil affirmed that the Yemeni people's observance of this anniversary demonstrates their love, loyalty, and devotion to the Prophet, and serves as a call to reflect this love and reverence in words, deeds, and all aspects of life. He further noted the urgent need for the nation, amid current challenges and confusion in visions and actions, to return to the Prophet's guidance, seek closeness to him, study his life, follow his path, spread love and tolerance in society, and raise the banner of resistance against the enemies of the nation.
The event was attended by University President Dr. Abdullah Yayah, Secretary-General Dr. Ali Al-Umari, college deans, and other officials. On the occasion, Head of the Islamic Studies Department, Dr. Ghalib Amer, reviewed key aspects of the Prophet's life, the events surrounding his birth, and the parallels between the two eras of ignorance-ancient and modern-which sought to revive Judaism, disbelief, hypocrisy, corruption, and idol worship in the Arabian Peninsula after the Prophet had purified it and established justice, values, and noble ethics. He also pointed to the steadfast position of the Yemeni people, who, despite limited resources and restrictions, remain firm in their determination, serving as proof and inspiration for others, and as a call to free peoples worldwide to stand for truth and support their brothers in Gaza.
