Expanded Meeting for Media Professionals in Hodeidah to Enhance Zakat Awareness

Hodeidah: The Hodeidah branch office of the General Authority for Zakat organized an expanded awareness-raising meeting on Saturday evening for journalists, activists, and writers in the province, under the slogan 'Together Towards Zakat Awareness.'

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting aimed to enhance public awareness of the importance of zakat and its role in promoting social solidarity, while highlighting the humanitarian efforts, development, and charitable projects implemented by the authority. It also sought to expand partnerships with media outlets and activists in spreading zakat culture and reinforcing values of solidarity and benevolence in society.

During the meeting, Acting Deputy Head of the Awareness and Media Sector at the General Authority for Zakat, Judge Hafiz Allah Zayed, emphasized the significant responsibility placed on journalists and activists in supporting the authority's efforts. He noted that truthful expression and purposeful messaging are key pillars in strengthening social solidarity and raising awareness of the importance of zakat. He explained that the General Authority for Zakat is keen to expand its development and humanitarian projects to reach all eligible beneficiaries, pointing out that Hodeidah governorate is a priority in the authority's plans due to the difficult living conditions faced by citizens amid the current circumstances.

He added that positive engagement from media professionals directly contributes to strengthening trust between the authority and society, and advances zakat work toward achieving its noble objectives of collecting and distributing zakat in its eight legitimate channels with integrity and transparency. The Acting Deputy Head called on all participants to enhance cultural and media contributions, dedicating greater space in their platforms and writings to highlighting the positive impacts of zakat, and to encourage those obligated to fulfill their religious duties, contributing to the purification of their wealth and the prosperity of their community.

During the meeting, which was attended by Assistant Deputy for the Awareness and Media Sector at the Zakat Authority, Ali Al-Tarafi, Director of Media and Awareness at the authority, Mohammed Al-Mushki, presented key aspects of the authority's awareness and media plan. He stressed the pivotal role of writers, activists, and journalists in shaping public opinion in support of social and humanitarian development efforts. He pointed out the importance of keeping pace with field activities and programs implemented by the authority, and of conveying the true picture of major projects through which zakat has been transformed into economic empowerment initiatives and tangible medical and food assistance that has benefited thousands of needy families.

Al-Mushki urged participants to innovate in awareness content creation and use modern communication tools to reach all segments of society, ensuring the sustainability of zakat awareness and transforming it into a widespread social behavior and culture.
