Sana'a: An expanded meeting was held in Sana'a on Sunday to discuss preparations for the First Yemeni Medicinal Honey Scientific Conference.
According to Yemen News Agency, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee Dr. Ghassan Al-Madani praised the strong engagement shown by representatives of the pharmaceutical sector and pioneers of the national industry. He noted that their participation reflects growing awareness of the conference's importance in advancing scientific research, the pharmaceutical industry, and the status of national products.
Dr. Al-Madani stated that the conference would serve as a national platform linking scientific expertise, technical knowledge, and industrial capabilities. This would pave the way for the development of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies based on local resources in accordance with scientific standards and recognized quality requirements.
He added that the conference aligns with efforts to strengthen pharmaceutical sovereignty by utilizing national natural resources and harnessing the therapeutic properties of Yemeni honey to develop safe, effective, and competitive medicinal products.
First Deputy Chairman of the Union of Pharmaceutical Producers Ahmed Al-Shahari emphasized that the conference's success depends on close cooperation among scientific, regulatory, and industrial stakeholders. He pointed out that quality, standards, manufacturing, marketing, and brand development are fundamental pillars for achieving self-sufficiency and supporting community development.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Authority for Drugs Dr. Abdullah Al-Sharif, along with a number of pharmaceutical and medical supplies manufacturers, reviewed coordination mechanisms between the Preparatory Committee, the Union of Pharmaceutical Producers, and relevant entities. This is to ensure the conference produces practical and scientific outcomes that support the pharmaceutical sector and reinforce pharmaceutical sovereignty.
Participants highlighted the conference's significance as a major scientific and industrial event. It is expected to strengthen integration between scientific research and pharmaceutical production while opening new opportunities for investment in national natural resources, particularly medicinal honey.
Representatives of pharmaceutical and medical supplies manufacturers also expressed their readiness to actively contribute to the conference's success by showcasing their products and scientific and industrial achievements. This would strengthen institutional cooperation and unify efforts to support the pharmaceutical sector.
