Eye Humanity Center Condemns Mutilation of Martyr’s Body in Taiz

Taiz:Eye Humanity Center for Rights and Development has condemned the actions of Saudi-led aggression mercenaries in Taiz Governorate, where a martyr's body was stripped of its clothes and the scene was filmed, published, and boasted about, violating the sanctity of the corpse.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Center described the crime as a grave assault on human dignity and a deliberate act of humiliation and degradation. The perpetrators' actions reflect an unprecedented level of moral and human depravity, not only committing the act but also documenting and disseminating it, showing disregard for the victim's dignity and the feelings of his family, loved ones, and the Yemeni people.

The Center emphasized that a human body's sanctity persists after death, and bodies must not be subjected to revenge or humiliation. International humanitarian law mandates respect for the dead and prohibits acts of mutilation and degrading treatment. This crime is not an isolated incident but part of a recurring pattern in Taiz Governorate involving killing and mutilation of bodies, reflecting a culture of impunity and necessitating investigation and accountability.

It is pointed out that repeated mutilation of bodies, especially of prisoners and the deceased, violates international humanitarian law and may constitute war crimes. The statement holds the perpetrators and those behind them fully responsible and emphasizes that such crimes must be prosecuted, as dignity is not extinguished by death. The events deeply wound the dignity of the Yemeni people and highlight the scale of violations in Taiz, calling for an end to impunity regarding these acts.
