Al-hodeidah: The leadership of the Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment in Al-Hodeidah Governorate conducted a field visit to several industrial facilities in the Bayt Al-Faqih District. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate factory conditions, production lines, and the challenges affecting their operations.
According to Yemen News Agency, the visit encompassed various industrial facilities in the Al-Husseiniyah area, with Member of Parliament Ali Ahmed Al-Ghubari in attendance. The Director of the Governorate's Office of Economy, Saleh Atifah, along with the Deputy Director of Industrial Oversight and the District Branch Office Director, inspected a factory producing cardboard and plastic products. They reviewed the current production capacity, which stands at 35 tons per day with a single shift. It was noted that this could potentially increase to between 90 and 100 tons per day with three shifts and solar power support.
The delegation also visited a factory specializing in recycling waste from cardboard factories to produce raw-material rolls. This facility currently produces 25 rolls per day using a single shift. Addressing energy issues could enhance its capacity to meet the demands of multiple factories.
In addition to assessing operational facilities, the delegation reviewed several idle factories, including a sauce factory and mills, to evaluate their technical readiness and the feasibility of resuming operations.
The Director of the Office of Economy emphasized that the visit is part of an ongoing effort to closely monitor industrial facilities, assess performance, and evaluate factory needs. The visit aimed to identify challenges such as energy-related issues and report them to the relevant authorities to improve the investment climate and stabilize production processes.
Atifah highlighted the importance of focusing on idle factories, aiming to assess their readiness and explore possibilities for restarting them to boost job creation and stimulate the local economy. He added that the office plans to follow up on the visit's outcomes, coordinate with relevant entities, and address observations to support the industrial sector, thereby enhancing the role of industry in local development.
