Al-Hodeida: The Agricultural and Fisheries Production Promotion Fund and the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea have signed a financing agreement for the construction of the outer wall of Al Khoba fish port in Al-Hodeida province. This initiative is part of concerted efforts to develop the infrastructure of the fisheries sector and boost its productive capabilities.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Al-Khoba port is a vital facility in Hodeida, supporting over 7,000 fishermen with an annual fish landing rate of approximately 8,000 tons. The project aims to reconstruct the outer wall of the port, which has suffered significant damage, in order to enhance the organization of fishing activities, improve service levels for fishermen, and increase operational efficiency within the port. The construction will also safeguard fishermen's tools and property, organize entry and exit operations, enhance statistical controls, and curb fish smuggling.
The agreement was signed by the Executive Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Production Promotion Fund, Engineer Abdulwahab Al-Ashwal, and the Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea, Engineer Abdulmalik Sabra. It underscores a commitment to completing the project within six months, under the direct supervision of the Authority.
