Sana'a: The first Education Forum was held today in Taiz Governorate under the title "Education is Everyone's Responsibility," organized by the Education Sector in the governorate. The forum aimed to enhance community partnership to support the educational process, unify official and community efforts to advance the education sector, and improve the quality of its outputs.
According to Yemen News Agency, the forum discussed the reality of education in the governorate and the most prominent challenges facing the educational sector, foremost among them infrastructure needs for schools, addressing the phenomenon of student dropout, qualifying teaching staff, and providing modern educational tools. At the opening of the forum, Acting Governor Ahmed Al-Masawi emphasized education as a fundamental pillar in nation-building and a strategic axis for societal development. He highlighted the comprehensive vision of the educational sector, which involves integrated roles and responsibilities, starting from the family to the Ministry of Education, local authorities, and the private sector.
Al-Masawi noted that overcoming current challenges requires concerted efforts from all parties involved in the educational process. He reviewed the systematic targeting of the education sector by the aggression coalition, aiming to disrupt schools and turn educational facilities into security threats. He affirmed that revitalizing the educational mission and supporting teachers are crucial steps in overcoming these challenges.
The Acting Governor also discussed efforts to ensure the regular payment of "half salary" to teachers, with aspirations to restore full salaries once current circumstances improve. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of creating educational models that ensure equal opportunities for students across various districts and called for keeping pace with technological advancements in education.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Dhaibani, Head of the Education Sector in Taiz, reiterated education's role in national advancement and highlighted efforts to support educational requirements. He emphasized community participation in creating an effective educational movement and presented a vision for an integrated educational project with broad participation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mansour Al-Qahtani, Director of the Capacity Development Department, presented outcomes from the first National Education Forum, addressing teacher challenges, textbook provision, and infrastructure issues. The forum concluded with recommendations, including forming a specialized committee to achieve the forum's goals in educational development.
