Muscat: The General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea: strongly condemned the blatant attack perpetrated by Eritrean authorities against Yemeni fishermen in territorial waters, a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian laws and conventions.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Authority explained that an Eritrean naval patrol directly attacked 50 Yemeni fishermen with firearms while they were aboard a fishing boat near Al-Sawabi Island in the Red Sea. This resulted in the death of one fisherman and injuries to others, in addition to the detention of several fishermen who were forcibly taken to Eritrean territory. This latest crime adds to the long list of repeated violations against Yemeni fishermen.
