Sana'a: The Fisheries Sector at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources on Wednesday recorded five violations during a field inspection campaign targeting fish vendors at al-Jumhouri Market in the capital, Sana'a.
According to Yemen News Agency, a quantity of spoiled fish was destroyed as part of the campaign. This initiative aims to strengthen market oversight, protect consumer health, and ensure the quality of seafood products in local markets.
The inspection focused on various aspects, including the quality of displayed fish, storage methods, shop hygiene, use of clean containers, and compliance with proper cooling standards to maintain seafood safety and quality.
Mohammed Hameed al-Din, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Fisheries Sector, stated that the campaign is part of a broader regulatory plan. This plan is implemented in coordination with relevant authorities to curb violations and raise health awareness among vendors.
He emphasized that inspection campaigns will continue to cover all seafood markets, underscoring that the ministry will take strict action against violators who compromise food safety or consumer health.
