Sana'a: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates refuted on Tuesday the monthly briefing delivered by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to the Security Council Monday.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Special Envoy's briefing, like its predecessors, failed to address the root causes that led to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Yemen, namely the aggression and blockade imposed on it for ten years, as well as the Zionist aggression against Yemen, the hostile practices of the United States against the Yemeni people, and the politicization of humanitarian aid.
The statement noted that the Special Envoy did not mention the parties obstructing the peace process in Yemen, particularly the United States, which has obstructed the implementation of the Roadmap due to Yemen's supportive stance toward Gaza.
It explained that the Special Envoy did not mention the unilateral actions taken by the mercenaries, which cast a negative shadow over the Yemeni citizen and exacerbate their suffering. The statement pointed out that the Special Envoy has always prioritized the issue of detainees from spy cells, exceeding his mandate as a mediator exerting goodwill efforts to achieve peace.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that the UN Special Envoy to Yemen must make serious efforts to resume the peace process in the coming period. It noted that what undermines peace efforts and the provision of humanitarian aid is not the legal measures taken against spy cells that threaten the country's security, but rather the continued aggression and blockade imposed on Yemen.
Regarding the statements of the Security Council member states, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the condemnation by some countries of the ongoing Zionist aggression against Yemen, most recently the targeting of the Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction and a number of ministers, as well as the targeting of civilians and civilian objects in the capital Sana'a and Jawf. Some also emphasized respect for Yemen's unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and the need for the international community to fulfill its role in providing humanitarian support to Yemen.
The ministry's statement concluded by emphasizing Sana'a's commitment to achieving a just and comprehensive peace, while also affirming its full readiness to defend and protect the homeland.
