Sana'a: A meeting in Taiz province on Friday discussed mechanisms for completing the activation of the agricultural extension program through multi-purpose cooperative associations in the districts of Maqbanah, Al-Ta'ziyah, and Khadir.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, chaired by Deputy Governor for Development Affairs Abdulwasi Al-Shamsi, reviewed progress in implementing outcomes of previous meetings with agricultural associations, value chain assistants for crop and livestock production. It also examined coordination mechanisms among relevant authorities to ensure the activation of production groups and the achievement of their objectives.
Participants, including Provincial Agricultural Sector Official Eng. Abdullah Al-Jundi, Executive Director of the Agricultural Projects Financing Unit Eng. Hussein Al-Rashidi, Head of the Provincial Branch of the Agricultural Cooperative Union Majed Al-Athwari, and the Ministry of Agriculture's Extension Representative Eng. Mansour Al-Hammadi, stressed the importance of completing the formation of production groups, addressing existing challenges, and implementing the Ministry of Agriculture's approved framework to strengthen cooperation between government institutions and local communities.
The meeting approved a one-month training program for production group facilitators to enhance their technical and extension skills, enabling them to better support farmers and improve collective agricultural and livestock production.
Participants noted that activating production group programs aligns with efforts to strengthen agricultural extension services, improve productivity, promote knowledge transfer, and encourage sound farming practices.
The meeting also reaffirmed the completion of local production group activation under the Ministry of Agriculture's supervision, in cooperation with its district offices and multi-purpose cooperative associations, to build an effective partnership between public institutions and the agricultural community.
