Foreign Ministry Commemorates 12th Anniversary of September 21 Revolution

Sana'a: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates organized a ceremony on Sunday to mark the 12th anniversary of the September 21 Revolution. During the event, Ambassador Abdullah Sabri, the Ministry's Undersecretary for Political Affairs, emphasized that the celebration takes place while the Yemeni people are engaged in a struggle for freedom and independence against prolonged Saudi influence.

According to Yemen News Agency, Ambassador Sabri highlighted that Saudi influence had dominated Yemen's political landscape for over fifty years, a reality that changed with the outbreak of the popular revolution. This revolution marked a new era, ensuring Yemen's sovereignty and independence, and establishing balanced international relations based on mutual interests.

Ambassador Sabri remarked on Saudi Arabia's reaction to the new Yemen, distinct from the Yemen of the 1970s. He noted that Saudi Arabia mobilized its military, political, and media capabilities, launching aggression against Yemen on March 26, 2015, with 'Operation Decisive Storm.' However, Yemen under the leadership of Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, showed resilience, transitioning from "strategic patience" to "deterrence balance" and moving towards an offensive initiative.

He further discussed Saudi Arabia's role in the 1994 summer war and its attempts to divide Yemen by spreading a radical brand of Wahhabism and recruiting young Yemenis for its agenda. Ambassador Sabri detailed how Saudi Arabia aligned with American interests, creating extremist organizations in Yemen, prompting military intervention to rescue these groups.

Ambassador Sabri also refuted allegations that Yemeni armed forces targeted Mecca, describing it as a disinformation tactic by Saudi Arabia. Abdullah Al-Nu'ami, a member of the Ansarullah Political Bureau, affirmed the revolution's importance, stating that without it, foreign interventions and extremist activities would have plagued Yemen.

Al-Nu'ami criticized the previous dependency on foreign powers for governmental decisions and highlighted the hijacking of the February 11, 2011 revolution. He praised the September 21 Revolution for restoring Yemen's sovereignty and independence.

Tariq Al-Shami, Head of the Media Department at the General People's Congress (GPC), extended congratulations to the revolution's leader, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din. He called for the development of Yemen's agricultural and industrial sectors to achieve self-sufficiency.

The ceremony, attended by deputy ministers and ministry staff, featured a poem by Hamza Al-Maghribi and videos showcasing the significance of the occasion.
