Foreign Ministry Condemns Attack on Mayun Island Lighthouse

Sanaa:The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has accused the Saudi regime of targeting civilian infrastructure, specifically citing a recent attack on the lighthouse on Mayun Island.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Ministry described the targeting of the maritime lighthouse on Perim Island as a civilian navigational facility and labeled it a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

The Ministry expressed concerns that the attack could compromise the safety of maritime navigation in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. It urged the international community and organizations like the International Maritime Organization to condemn the aggression, take steps to protect civilian and navigational facilities, and work to prevent further such attacks.

Additionally, the Ministry warned about the Saudi regime's actions in militarizing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea, potentially turning these areas into conflict zones. It emphasized that navigation in these waters remains secure but pointed to the Saudi regime as a threat to this security.
