Sanaa:An official from Yemen's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has criticized the United Nations for allegedly exploiting the suffering of the Yemeni people, asserting that this has been a longstanding approach by the organization over the years.
According to Yemen News Agency, the official highlighted that the UN personnel's handling of the situation in Taiz and other regions reflects a politicization of humanitarian efforts. The statement argued against the narrative of "espionage cells," citing confessions from those involved as evidence against such claims.
Further, the official commended the International Committee of the Red Cross for delivering medicine to Taiz without seeking media attention, suggesting that the UN should emulate this approach if genuinely committed to its humanitarian objectives.
The statement also confirmed that the main roads to and from Taiz are secure, allowing for the free movement of people and goods, and ensuring the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid. Yemeni government agencies, it was noted, continue to work towards meeting the essential needs of Taiz's residents, aiming to reduce their hardships.
