Sana'a: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has criticized a recent statement by the Saudi Foreign Ministry, asserting Yemen's actions against Saudi mobilizations as legitimate under international customs, charters, and laws.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Yemeni Ministry emphasized that their targeting of Saudi mobilizations and the establishment of a "siege for siege" equation are justified responses to Saudi attacks and crimes. The Ministry highlighted that the Saudi regime initiated aggression, as declared by its Foreign Minister, and has targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure with over a quarter-million airstrikes over the past 12 years. These actions have resulted in thousands of civilian casualties, including women and children, and significant destruction.
The statement from the Yemeni Ministry further accused the Saudi regime of destabilizing the Yemeni Republic since the 1930s by seeking to impose control, occupy lands, and deplete resources. It clarified that Yemen's blockade on Saudi Arabia aimed to lift the siege imposed by the Saudi regime. The Ministry noted that Saudi Arabia has resisted peace efforts and instead escalated conflicts by mobilizing forces and targeting civilian areas, such as the recent attack on the Central Correctional Facility in Al-Jawf.
The Yemeni Ministry also expressed frustration with the international community's inaction, urging it to hold the Saudi regime accountable for its aggression, siege, and interference in Yemen's internal affairs. It stressed the importance of recognizing the Saudi regime's role in escalating regional tensions and warned of potential consequences.
The Ministry reiterated Yemen's right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and its commitment to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. It concluded by affirming that any aggression against Yemen will be met with a strong response, signaling an end to foreign dominance.
