Al-dhale': A free eye medicine and surgery camp has been inaugurated at Damt Rural Hospital in the Damt District of Al-Dhale' Governorate. The camp, which marks the 73rd of its kind, was officially opened by Deputy Governors Hussein Al-Madhaji and Ali Al-Saqqaf from the General Authority of Zakat.
According to Yemen News Agency, the camp is organized by the Healthcare Association for Affected Communities and funded by the Zakat Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and its local office in the governorate. During the inauguration, which was attended by Assistant Commander of the Fourth Military Region Brig. Gen. Saleh Hajib, Al-Madhaji emphasized the camp's significance in serving the poor and vulnerable patients in Al-Dhale' and neighboring areas.
Al-Madhaji expressed his hope for more such medical camps to be organized in the governorate, highlighting their role in alleviating citizens' suffering and providing essential healthcare services. He commended the efforts of the General Authority of Zakat and the Healthcare Association for Affected Communities in making the camp possible.
Zakat Authority Deputy Ali Al-Saqqaf and Health Committee Chairman Hassan Tamah stated that the camp aligns with the directives of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the Zakat Authority leadership to deliver healthcare services to the poor and needy. They noted that this is the 73rd medical camp funded by the Zakat Authority, offering medical examinations, treatment, medical supplies, and surgeries to underprivileged groups.
Al-Saqqaf and Tamah further explained that the camp addresses healthcare needs in remote and underserved areas while fostering social solidarity and support for the poorest populations. They confirmed the Zakat Authority's support for various healthcare projects, including Life Support initiatives, Al-Jumhouri Hospital, Prophet Mohammad Hospital, kidney transplant programs, and other forms of medical assistance.
The efforts of the Healthcare Association for Affected Communities and local authorities were also acknowledged for facilitating the camp's establishment. Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, chairman of the association, explained that the camp, running from Dhu al-Qi'dah 24 to 27, aims to provide medical examinations and perform 250 cataract surgeries. He remarked that this camp is part of a series of 72 previous camps by the association across various governorates, which have benefited 96,061 patients and conducted 12,793 surgeries.
