Taiz: The First Deputy Governor of Taiz, Mohammed Al-Khalidi, inaugurated a free eye surgery camp at Taiz Central Hospital in Al-Ta'izziyah District. The camp is a collaborative effort organized by the governorate's Health Office and funded by the Yemeni Red Crescent Society to mark the 1448 AH anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad's birth (Mawlid).
According to Yemen News Agency, the three-day camp aims to perform 200 free cataract surgeries for residents of Al-Ta'izziyah District and nearby areas. Health and Environment Office Director Dr. Mohammed Al-Ezzi noted that the camp is part of community service activities held to commemorate the Mawlid, acknowledging the Yemeni Red Crescent Society's support in aiding the health sector and alleviating citizens' challenges.
Dr. Hamoud Al-Qareh, Director of Taiz Central Hospital, stated that the initiative is part of a series of free medical interventions designed to lessen the financial and health burdens on vulnerable groups. Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, head of the Health Care Association for Affected Communities, and Tawfiq Al-Humairi, director of the Yemeni Red Crescent branch in Al-Hawban, emphasized that the camp is part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to provide medical services for conflict-affected communities and displaced people, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and local authorities.
Deputy Hospital Director Dr. Walid Wajih Al-Din explained that the camp's initial three days will focus on patient examinations, screening, case selection, and pre-operative assessments for those in need of surgery.
