Dhamar: The Health Care Association for Affected Communities is set to initiate its 71st free medical camp dedicated to eye surgeries in the Wasab district of Dhamar Governorate next Monday. This initiative coincides with the 11th anniversary of the National Day of Resilience, aiming to provide essential medical services to underserved communities.
According to Yemen News Agency, the camp will take place at Al-Ahad Rural Hospital from the 18th to the 21st of Shawwal. It is funded by the General Authority for Zakat in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Environment. The camp will offer examination services and conduct 200 surgeries, including procedures for cataract removal, pterygium excision, and removal of chalazia (eyelid cysts).
Hassan Tameh, head of the Health Committee at the General Authority for Zakat, highlighted that these camps are part of the directives from the Leader of the Revolution, the Supreme Political Council, and the Authority's leadership. The primary goal is to deliver healthcare to impoverished and needy individuals, particularly in remote areas lacking adequate access to medical services.
Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, head of the Health Care Association, elaborated on the schedule, noting that the first three days will focus on examinations and assessments to determine which cases require surgical intervention. These patients will then undergo pre-operative tests. He commended the Zakat Authority's support in mitigating citizens' suffering amid the country's current challenges.
