Sana'a: The General Authority for Antiquities and Museums in Sana'a has strongly condemned the destruction of the historic Dome of the Virgin Mary, a significant archaeological site in the Al-Sharifa area of Al-Dhale' province. The site, under the control of aggression mercenaries, has been bombed, leading to widespread denunciation.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Authority emphasized that the dome is an archaeological site housing centuries-old tombs, rather than a place of worship. It is considered a rare architectural masterpiece and an important historical symbol. The Authority has urged international organizations dedicated to the protection of human heritage to take responsibility and address the systematic targeting and destruction of Yemeni heritage.

The Authority further highlighted that such acts are crimes against Yemeni history and civilization. It warned that the continued silence of the international community on these violations could lead to further damage to Yemen's cultural and humanitarian heritage. The Authority has called for accountability for those responsible for the destruction of this significant cultural site.
