Sana'a: The General Authority for Books recently published a poetry collection titled "Cities of Wounds" by poet Ahmed Ubad.
According to Yemen News Agency, the head of the General Authority for Books, Abdulrahman Murad, introduced the book by highlighting that Ahmed Ubad's poetry collection presents a passionate text resisting the duality of hegemony and subjugation that others seek to impose on Yemen. Murad emphasized that the thematic focus of the poems revolves around significant symbols like Sana'a, representing elevation and historical steadfastness, Al-Quds as a cause, and the martyr as a symbol of civilizational transformation and selflessness.
Murad further elaborated that Ubad's collection establishes a clear collective identity, where the "self" merges into the collective world through ideological bonds. He described the collection as belonging to the genre of rousing, mobilizing poetry, and noted that the political circumstances Yemen has faced are woven into its themes. This is evident in the collection's firm ideological vision, which advocates decisive action and leaves no room for doubt or hesitation.
In his remarks, Murad described Ahmed Ubad as a poet of cause, known for his powerful expression and masterful composition. He emphasized that "Cities of Wounds" is a significant contribution to Arabic poetry, resisting hegemony through its subject matter, vision, artistry, and style. Murad expressed pride in including this collection among the General Authority's publications, noting that it documents the poetic and creative stance of this period while highlighting the resilience and survival of Yemen despite the challenges posed by external aggression.
