Sana'a: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Jamal Amer, the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim, and the Secretary-General of the Presidium of the Republic, Hassan Sharaf al-Din, reviewed the ongoing maintenance and restoration work at Sana'a International Airport, which had been impacted by Israeli aggression.
According to Yemen News Agency, during their visit, Amer, Qahim, Sharaf Al-Din, and Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works - Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Yahya Al-Sayani, assessed the condition of the runway, passenger lounges, and damaged aircraft. The airport director, Khaled Al-Shaif, provided a briefing on the progress made by technical and engineering teams. Al-Shaif noted that the restoration includes the runway, the dock, VIP lounges, and passenger lounges, with some facilities reaching advanced stages due to the continuous efforts of specialized teams.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates highlighted the crucial role of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works in resuming airport operations to ease the difficulties faced by citizens, especially patients, students, and Yemeni expatriates. He emphasized that the attacks on civilian infrastructure like Sana'a International Airport constitute a war crime under international law and related aviation conventions.
The Minister of Transport and Public Works reiterated the ministry's dedication to enhancing the transportation sector amid challenges posed by aggression. He announced that engineering teams are tirelessly working to restore the airport's operational capacity, with plans to announce the arrival of a stranded flight to Jordan as a preliminary step toward resuming air traffic.
Hassan Sharaf al-Din, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, acknowledged the swift restoration efforts and lauded the extraordinary commitment to reviving the airport's functionality. He emphasized that the accomplishments reflect a commitment to resilience and convey a message from Sana'a Airport to the global community.
