Sana'a: The spokesperson for the Government of Change and Construction, Deputy Minister of Information Dr. Omar al-Bukhaiti, condemned the Saudi-led coalition airstrike on Sana'a International Airport in the capital Sana'a.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. al-Bukhaiti denounced the Saudi-led coalition's targeting of the civilian Sana'a International Airport in an attempt to prevent the Iranian civilian aircraft carrying the Yemeni delegation participating in the funeral procession for the martyr Sayyid Ali Khamenei from landing at the airport.
He considered the Saudi-led coalition's targeting of Sana'a Airport a violation of international laws and conventions, particularly the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, which criminalizes targeting civilian and vital facilities and guarantees the safety of air navigation in times of peace and war.
He affirmed that the Yemeni people have not and will not accept external dictates, and will not hesitate to take all necessary steps to protect their sovereignty and independence, and to guarantee the freedom of movement of their citizens and official delegations through their national airspace and airports.
The government spokesperson held the Saudi regime responsible for the consequences of its aggression against Sana'a International Airport and its infrastructure, emphasizing the Yemeni people's legal right to reopen the airport and break the isolation that the aggression attempted to impose, regardless of the cost.
Dr. al-Bukhaiti praised the stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its support for the Yemeni people in breaking the siege imposed upon them, considering this step a manifestation of the relations and shared solidarity between the two countries in confronting hegemony and the policy of dictates.
The government spokesperson, who is also the Deputy Minister of Information, concluded his statement by affirming that attempts to continue imposing restrictions on the Yemeni people will be shattered by their steadfastness and their will to reclaim all their legitimate rights and end dependency and guardianship forever.
