Hajjah: Hajjah Governor Hilal Al-Soufi, along with Deputy Governor for Agricultural Affairs Ibrahim Amer, paid a visit to corn and tomato farms in the Abs District. The visit aimed to assess the agricultural activities in the region and to engage directly with the local farming community.
According to Yemen News Agency, the officials were briefed by Majid Adhabi, Executive Director of the Abs Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association. The briefing included details on the support and resources provided to farmers by the association. Farmers shared insights about their cultivation practices for corn and tomatoes, the extent of land under cultivation, the harvesting processes, and the challenges they encounter.
During the visit, Governor Al-Soufi and association officials honored the farmers for their efforts in cultivating corn and tomato crops. Al-Soufi remarked that this recognition was a modest tribute to the farmers' dedication to producing high-quality crops. He emphasized the agricultural potential of Tihamah, which is known for producing top-quality crops, and highlighted the favorable conditions for cultivating various products.
The governor also praised the role of the Abs Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association in advancing agriculture in the district. He encouraged the expansion of Tihamah's famous crops to achieve self-sufficiency, ensure food security, and enhance local products. He assured that local authorities are prepared to coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water Resources, and other relevant entities to alleviate obstacles faced by farmers.
Adhabi reiterated the association's commitment to supporting farmers with quality seeds and assistance during the harvest, as well as addressing any challenges they face.
