Sana'a: The Health and Environment Office in the Capital Municipality launched on Monday the first phase of a program to provide health facilities with medical equipment as part of a program to improve the quality of medical and health services.
According to Yemen News Agency, at the launch, Heads of the Capital Municipality's Local Council Committees for Social Affairs Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, Planning Sharaf Al-Hadi, and Services Adel Al-Aqari described the support as an important step toward providing citizens with better-quality medical and health services, strengthening disease and epidemic prevention.
They noted that the medical equipment being distributed to health facilities across the Capital's districts is part of the Local Council's priorities, particularly in the health sector. Al-Naqeeb, Al-Hadi, and Al-Aqari said the launch coincides with celebrations marking the Prophet Muhammad's birth anniversary, which embodies the highest values of mercy, humanity, and benevolence.
They called on health sector personnel to actively participate in the major central celebration at Al-Sabeen Square and the Military Academy Square, noting the health sector's role in supporting various events. Capital Municipality Deputy for Financial Affairs Mazen Noman stressed the importance of improving health services, describing the sector as the frontline that directly addresses citizens' lives and healthcare needs. He called for concerted efforts to provide patients with the best possible services.
Director of the Capital Municipality Health Office Dr. Mutahar Al-Marouni explained that the first phase is part of the program to improve medical and health services and is being self-funded through the provision of new equipment and maintenance of existing devices. Further phases will follow. He said the program targets 20 health centers and medical complexes across all districts of the Capital Municipality. The office is also implementing several activities aimed at improving the quality of healthcare and making health facilities exemplary in providing a range of services.
Al-Marouni said the office had ensured the provision of modern, high-quality medical equipment and would train medical staff in its proper use and maintenance. He stressed the need to preserve the equipment and ensure its regular maintenance. He also commended the cooperation of the Capital Municipality leadership and Local Council in meeting the health sector's needs within available resources, including supporting the healthcare quality improvement program.
The Health Office director confirmed that medical teams are fully prepared to support the major celebration marking the Prophet's birth anniversary, noting that they routinely provide support for various events and occasions with a strong sense of responsibility. At the launch, Capital Municipality officials handed over a number of medical devices to officials of health centers and medical complexes in the districts.
