Hodeida: Activities commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) were launched on Tuesday in the districts of Bayt Al-Faqih, Al-Mansuriyah, and Al-Durayhimi in Al-Hodeida province. The mark coincided with the inauguration of open public mobilization courses for the year 1448 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the opening event in Bayt Al-Faqih, attended by member of Parliament Ali Al-Ghabri, speakers highlighted the life, virtues, struggle, and sacrifices of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, in confronting oppression and tyranny. Speeches were delivered by the district's director Hussein Sahl, Mukhtar Al-Madani, and a public mobilization statement read by Mansour Al-Obaidi reviewed Imam Hussein's legacy and the lessons of the Battle of Karbala, emphasizing patience, sacrifice, steadfastness, and resistance to injustice.
They stressed that commemorating the occasion reinforces the values of dignity, freedom, and honor, while affirming a continued commitment to confronting oppression and drawing inspiration from historical events to address contemporary challenges. The speakers also addressed the ongoing conflict and blockade affecting Yemen, praising the resilience of the Yemeni people and highlighting support for Gaza. They underscored the historical significance of the Karbala tragedy and the principles for which Imam Hussein sacrificed his life.
Participants also praised the Islamic Republic of Iran and commended the positions of countries and groups within the so-called Axis of Resistance, describing their stance as a continuation of Imam Hussein's path of supporting justice and defending the causes of the nation. The event concluded with calls to strengthen preparedness, expand public mobilization efforts, and reinforce resilience in confronting challenges and supporting efforts to secure rights and end aggression and blockade.
The ceremony was attended by religious scholars, tribal leaders, executive officials, and social, educational, and cultural figures, and included presentations reflecting the significance of the occasion and Imam Hussein's enduring place in the collective consciousness of the nation.
