Hodeida:The local authority in Hodeida governorate has issued a strong condemnation of an airstrike by the Saudi-led coalition that targeted the home of Abdul-Wahid Al-Wasabi in Al-Tuhayta district. The attack resulted in the deaths of Al-Wasabi, his two wives, and two of his children, while another child was seriously injured.
According to Yemen News Agency, the local authority's statement described the bombing of civilian homes, which resulted in residents, including women and children, being buried beneath rubble, as a crime devoid of religious, moral, and humanitarian values. The statement highlighted the chaos and failure of such actions, which indiscriminately shed the blood of Yemeni civilians.
The statement further asserted that these attacks on innocent civilians represent a grave violation of international humanitarian law and agreements. It categorically labeled the act as a war crime, urging international bodies and the United Nations to take moral responsibility for what it termed as international silence that provides political cover for such aggression.
The statement continued by detailing that these systematic crimes are part of a brutal series of massacres and extermination efforts against the Yemeni people since 2015. It called on Yemeni citizens and global human rights organizations to condemn the crime, document the atrocities, and seek justice for the victims.
The local authority reaffirmed that such assaults on civilians will not deter the will of the Hodeida residents, but rather bolster their resolve to resist the aggression and defend their land and dignity.
