HR Commission Denounces Saudi-Led Attacks in Sanaa and Taiz

Sanaa:The National Commission for Human Rights has condemned recent attacks by Saudi-led forces in the capital, Sanaa, and Taiz Governorate, labeling them as systematic crimes targeting civilians and residential areas.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Commission reported that Saudi-led coalition aircraft struck a residential neighborhood near Airport Road in the Al-Thawra District of Sanaa late at night, resulting in injuries to civilians, damage to homes, and causing panic among women and children.

In Taiz Governorate, Saudi aircraft launched two raids on the Al-Zarbi road in the Hayfan District, continuing a policy that disrupts roads and instills fear in travelers. Furthermore, seven children were injured by a landmine explosion in the Al-Afirah area of the Jabal Habashi District. The mine had been planted in a civilian home by Saudi forces before their retreat, aiming to harm returning residents.

The Commission's statement underscored that the use of landmines in civilian homes and the targeting of children highlight the Saudi forces' disregard for human life. It holds the Saudi regime legally and criminally responsible for these actions, categorizing them as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The Commission called on the United Nations, the Security Council, and the UN Envoy to denounce this escalation and break their silence, which it equates to complicity. It urged visits to the affected areas and appealed to the Yemeni people for increased vigilance against remnants left in liberated zones.
