Sana'a: A training workshop was held on Wednesday in Ibb Governorate to coordinate and unify official efforts for achieving sustainable development and to declare the year 1447 AH as the "Year of Development" in the province. The workshop aimed to enhance integrated work among executive bodies and districts to achieve sustainable social and economic development, focusing on self-sufficiency in basic food and pharmaceutical supplies, and improving health, education, road infrastructure, drinking water, and relief services.
According to Yemen News Agency, the workshop was attended by 120 participants, including governorate leadership, mobilization officials, directors of districts and executive offices, civil society representatives, cooperative associations, and the Bunyan Foundation. Key figures such as Ibb Governor Abdulwahab Salah, Governorate Secretary-General Amin Al-Warafi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment Mohammed Qatran, and other notable officials were present to discuss the complementary roles of stakeholders in development work, training "Development Champions," and establishing cooperative associations.
The discussions underscored the role of community initiatives in development, the efforts of the Zakat Authority in local financing, and mechanisms to support local production, reduce import costs, and coordinate efforts and resources according to the value chain. Governor Salah stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between official and community entities to achieve comprehensive development that improves citizens' lives by leveraging local capacities and supporting community initiatives.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including aligning with national leadership directives, implementing workshop outcomes at the district level, and activating the role of cooperative associations. Recommendations also focused on strategic planning, launching awareness campaigns, identifying key infrastructure projects, completing the training of "Development Champions," and evaluating the performance of district directors based on their implementation of workshop outcomes. These steps are aimed at achieving unified efforts and resource optimization for sustainable development goals.
