Sana'a: The General Directorate of Traffic Police has introduced new directives aimed at enhancing road safety and public security, urging compliance from all vehicle service shops across the capital and governorates.
According to Yemen News Agency, the circular specifically prohibits the installation of reflective (tinted) windows, electronic screens, and noisy exhausts on both taxis and private vehicles. These measures are being implemented due to concerns over safety and inappropriate behavior in public transport systems.
Additionally, the directives ban any vehicle modifications that change the model or color without official authorization, as such alterations can hinder accident investigations and crime tracking efforts.
Traffic Police Chief Major General Dr. Bakil al-Barashi noted that these instructions are based on insights from the 1446 AH Traffic Accident Report, which identified these violations as contributing factors to the increase in road accidents.
In a recent enforcement action, the police summoned 30 violators from vehicle decoration shops in Sana'a, taking legal action and securing written commitments from them to prevent future violations.
Authorities are urging citizens to voluntarily remove any violations from their vehicles, warning that strict legal measures will be taken against those who fail to comply.
