Ibb:Engineering students at Ibb University recently attended a scientific seminar organized by the Yemen General Corporation for Cement Industry and Marketing. The seminar, part of the Construction and Building Exhibition in Ibb province, focused on the various cement products manufactured by the corporation's plants.
According to Yemen News Agency, the seminar addressed different stages of cement manufacturing, product characteristics, and construction applications. It aimed to highlight new cement products and their role in meeting the diverse requirements of construction projects, improving construction quality, and ensuring structural safety.
Dr. Nasr al-Hujaili, President of Ibb University, emphasized the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and the industry. He noted that such partnerships are crucial for aligning engineering education with labor-market demands and equipping students with practical skills.
Dr. Mahdi al-Hawri, deputy chairman for commercial affairs at the corporation, stated that cement manufacturing plays a vital role in the national economy and is essential for infrastructure, housing, and road projects. He advocated for stronger partnerships to enhance local product development, improve quality, and prepare qualified engineering professionals.
Dr. Farhan Nashwan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ibb University, praised the initiative. He noted that seminars like these foster cooperation between the university and industrial entities and provide students with valuable practical experience.
