Dhamar: The agriculture sector in Dhamar province launched a program on Saturday to establish field schools, awareness sessions, and field training for wheat farmers in Yifa’a village, located in Dhamar city. This initiative aims to support local farmers through enhanced agricultural education and training.
According to Yemen News Agency, the program received funding from the Executive Unit of the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Department and involved the creation of a field school for wheat farmers. This school is composed of 20 farmers and is part of a broader project designed to form field schools that bolster agricultural activities and facilitate the exchange of experiences among farmers.
Ibrahim al-Mahdi, the director of the Agriculture Sector Branch in Dhamar City Directorate, highlighted that this program is a component of the field schools project. The project is intended to enhance agricultural practices and increase knowledge sharing among local farmers. Al-Mahdi also pointed out the importance of agricultural extension in educating farmers about modern agricultural techniques throughout the entire farming process, from land preparation to harvesting.
He encouraged farmers to participate in multi-purpose agricultural cooperative societies and to continue efforts in land reclamation, production expansion, and achieving self-sufficiency in agriculture.
