Sana'a: The General Authority for the Development of Small and Micro Enterprises in Sana'a has launched the first phase of the project to build industrial models for the production of dairy products from local suppliers. This initiative is funded by the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the Capital Sana'a.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Capital Municipality has announced its commitment to provide one billion riyals to support economic empowerment projects. The first phase of this initiative received financing of 400 million riyals, with an additional one billion riyals earmarked for the second phase. The project aims to empower micro-food factories and train ten local associations and organizations in the manufacture of dairy products. It also seeks to reduce dependence on imported milk powder, provide job opportunities, decrease unemployment, and lower the import bill.
The project targets 13,400 households within the dairy chain, a program that has already been successfully implemented in Hodeidah, producing approximately 146,000 liters of milk per day. Furthermore, the Capital Municipality plans to require investors to allocate space in new markets for products from productive families, alongside the establishment of three large markets on the outskirts of the capital to showcase these products.
This project represents a significant advancement in the economy focused on productive families, with the ultimate goal of achieving commercial industrialization and self-sufficiency.
