Independent Human Rights Commission Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

Jeddah: The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a condemnation against the ongoing terrorist attacks by the Houthi militias targeting Saudi Arabia. These attacks, which focus on civilians, including women and children, as well as critical energy infrastructure, have drawn significant criticism from the commission. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the commission expressed its unwavering support for Saudi Arabia and its citizens, emphasizing the importance of respecting and safeguarding civilian safety and security at all times. The commission underscored that the Houthi's continued assaults represent a blatant breach of international humanitarian law, with severe implications for fundamental human rights such as the right to life and security. The commission reiterated that Saudi Arabia has both the right and the obligation under international law to defend its citizens and infrastructure against these unlawful terrorist actions. I t highlighted the necessity for accountability concerning the Houthi militias' violations to provide justice and remedies for affected victims. Moreover, the commission called upon the global community, including the United Nations and other relevant international bodies, to strongly denounce these attacks. The statement urged for increased diplomatic efforts to prevent further incidents and promote peace and stability throughout Yemen and the surrounding region. The commission also advocated for collaborative regional and international measures to uphold international law and ensure accountability.
