Hodeidah: The Deputy Minister of the Fisheries Sector at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Fawzi Al-Saghir, inspected on Tuesday the progress of ongoing construction projects and technical installations at the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea, most notably the Fish and Marine Products Quality Laboratory.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Al-Saghir reviewed the level of completion in equipping the laboratory and supplying it with modern technical equipment, considering the activation of the quality laboratory a strategic step to ensure the safety of marine products and their compliance with standard specifications. This move is expected to contribute to consumer protection and enhance the competitiveness of Yemeni fish in local and international markets.
Dr. Al-Saghir emphasized that upgrading the Authority's infrastructure and developing its administrative and technical facilities is part of the Ministry's plans to advance the fisheries sector along the Tihama coast. The aim is to provide a modern working environment that serves fishermen and improves the efficiency of monitoring the quality and circulation of marine life.
During his inspection, Dr. Al-Saghir was accompanied by the Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Fisheries, Abdulmalik Sabrah, Directors of Fishing Regulation and Marine Monitoring Nasser Awadha, Sector Follow-up Director Mohammed Hamid, and several general directors and specialists at the Authority.
