Mahweet: The Women's Authority in Shibam Kawkaban district of Mahweet governorate organized a cultural event on Tuesday to mark the 106th anniversary of the Tanouma massacre. This event, held in memory of the Yemeni pilgrims who were targeted by the Saudi regime, also demonstrated solidarity with Palestine, Iran, and Lebanon.
According to Yemen News Agency, participants at the event highlighted the significance of remembering the Tanouma massacre as a way to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs and remind the public of the Saudi aggression that has historically targeted Yemenis. They emphasized the need to raise community awareness about these crimes, ensuring that they are neither forgotten nor repeated. The Tanouma massacre was pointed out as one of the most egregious crimes against Yemeni pilgrims.
The event's speakers also expressed solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon amidst ongoing attacks and violations by what they referred to as the Zionist enemy. They underscored the necessity of a unified stance on national issues and the rejection of hegemony and arrogance in all forms.
Calls were made to continue fostering community awareness, strengthen unity, and reinforce faith-based values as means to confront challenges and uphold the principles of steadfastness and resilience. The event featured recitations and cultural performances that underscored the importance of the commemoration.
