Iran and Russia Near Agreement on Gas Transportation to Iran

Sana'a: Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali announced significant progress in negotiations between Tehran and Moscow concerning joint energy sector cooperation, particularly focusing on the transport of gas to Iran. Initial steps have been undertaken, bringing the parties close to finalizing the agreement.

According to Yemen News Agency, Jalali disclosed in an interview on the sidelines of the Iran Plast exhibition that a recent meeting between the Iranian and Russian presidents in China was pivotal. The discussions focused on exploring all facets of the bilateral relationship, with a special emphasis on economic projects.

Jalali noted that the meeting facilitated a faster progression of agreements and enabled the necessary decisions for project execution. He emphasized that a major outcome of the bilateral cooperation talks was the agreement on gas transportation to Iran. A Russian delegation is expected to visit Tehran in the coming week to finalize these critical discussions.
