Quneitra: Israeli forces are reinforcing their positions in the Quneitra and Daraa governorates of southern Syria by establishing permanent bases and military service centers.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the construction of roads, the bulldozing of land, the demolition of residential buildings, and the destruction of Syrian army headquarters as part of these efforts.
The Observatory, citing private field sources in al-Quneitra Governorate, detailed that Israeli forces have bolstered their presence by constructing metal structures and a repair yard for heavy machinery. Additionally, 16-meter-wide roads have been built adjacent to each military post, extending from the occupied Golan Heights to allow for rapid intervention when necessary.
Reports indicate the establishment of 15 military bases, outposts, and observation posts inside Syrian territory since the end of 2024. These bases were set up in Jabata al-Khashab, Qars al-Nafl, and al-Qahtaniyah, with additional outposts in Tulul al-Hamr and near al-Mantarah Dam in Quneitra Governorate.
In Daraa Governorate, bases and outposts were developed in the villages of al-Shajara, Ma'ariyah, and Abidin within the Yarmouk Basin area. On Mount Hermon, at least two military positions were established at strategic locations on the mountain's summit.
These sites are equipped with military infrastructure, including earthworks, trenches, observation towers, radars, and electronic reconnaissance systems. The Israeli forces have also constructed new military roads connecting these bases to the occupied territories.
Israeli forces continue to reinforce and utilize these sites actively. Recently, raids and searches were conducted from these bases into surrounding villages, marking a transition from purely observational roles to active operational bases.
