Japanese Stocks Rise as Oil Supply Concerns Ease

Sana'a: Japanese stocks rose on Wednesday as concerns about oil supply disruptions eased following a report that the International Energy Agency (IEA) had proposed the largest release from strategic petroleum reserves in its history. The Nikkei index climbed 1.8 percent to 55,237.64, and the Topix index rose 1.6 percent to 3,720.99, according to the Oman News Agency.

According to Yemen News Agency, the oil market remains a focus of attention after its sharp fluctuations, as investors seek direction for the stock market. Brent crude futures fell 23 cents, or 0.26 percent, to $87.57 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures dropped 37 cents, or 0.44 percent, to $83.08 a barrel.

Of the Nikkei, 213 stocks rose and 12 declined.
