Taiz: The Prophet's Birthday Football Tournament got underway on Wednesday in the districts of Khadir and Sharab Al-Ronah in Taiz governorate as part of the sporting activities marking the Prophet Muhammad's birthday (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) for the year 1448 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, in Khadir district, Al-Shaheed Al-Ghammari defeated Faylaq Al-Quds 6-1 at Al-Shaheed Al-Ghamari Stadium in Al-Rahedah as part of the tournament, which features four participating teams.
In Sharab Al-Ronah District, the tournament opened with the participation of six teams representing the district's sub-districts. The opening ceremony was attended by District Director Osama Al-Qatabri, the district's local council secretary-general, the district security director, the district youth and sports director, Mohammed Farhan, and a number of local, social, and sports figures. In the opening match, Al-Hilal advanced to the next round after defeating Suqour Al-Hayajim in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
Competitions also continued in the districts of Sabr Al-Mawadem, Salah, Al-Taiziyah, and Sharab Al-Salam. In Sabr Al-Mawadem District, Shabab Seerah secured a place in the final by defeating Shabab Al-Mahraq 4-2.
In Al-Taiziyah District, Al-Kharabah beat Al-Samkar 3-1 to advance in the tournament, while Ittihad Ahfad Bilal recorded an emphatic 8-0 victory over Suqour Al-Hawban in Salah District. In Sharab Al-Salam District, Al-Nawaris Al-Zawhah earned a 7-2 victory over Al-Shu'lah Bani Wahban in the Prophet's Birthday Football Tournament.
The Prophet's Birthday League continues across the districts of Taiz Governorate as part of the sports activities organized by the governorate's Youth and Sports Office to mark the occasion.
