Khadir Association Implements Initiative to Rehabilitate Al-Dahna – Al-Salu Road

General

Taiz: The Khadir Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Association in Taiz Governorate has implemented a community initiative to rehabilitate the road linking the districts of Khadir and Al-Salu in the Al-Jashiya region - Al-Dahna, Budu Sub-district. The road was severely damaged due to heavy rains that hit the area.

According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative was coordinated with the Local Council in the district and in cooperation with the Agricultural Financing Unit in the governorate. The project aimed to protect agricultural lands and repair damage caused by flash floods.

The implementation of the initiative comes as an urgent response to citizens' appeals after the road suffered severe damage from torrential floods. The Local Council in Khadir District, under the supervision of the association, worked to backfill and fill pits.

Heavy equipment was used, with support from the Financing Unit in the governorate providing bulldozers, and the local authority and community contributing water pumps to transport backfill materials. Efforts continued day and night to reopen the road and facilitate vehicle traffic.

The initiative serves as a model for the role of cooperative associations in community service, as Khadir Association contributed to stimulating and encouraging local efforts, providing technical and logistical support to mitigate the effects of natural disasters on citizens and farmers.
